Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the chopped dates, vanilla extract, milk, and egg, mixing until just combined.
- Chill the dough for about 10 minutes in the fridge.
Baking
- On a floured surface, roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thick.
- Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
- Let the scones cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Best served warm with butter or cream cheese. They can be frozen before or after baking. To reheat, place in a preheated oven for a few minutes.
