  • 12 ounces smoked sausage Can substitute with chicken or shrimp.
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Use more if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Add more for extra spice.
  • 8 ounces pasta Type of pasta can be chosen; can also use pre-cooked pasta.
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with coconut milk for dairy-free.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese Add at the end until melted.
  • to taste salt Add as needed.
  • to garnish parsley or green onions Optional for topping.

Method
 

Cooking the Sausage
  1. Slice the smoked sausage and heat in a large skillet over medium heat, browning for a few minutes until fragrant.
Adding Vegetables & Spices
  1. Add chopped onion and cook until soft.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning, mixing well.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Add pasta, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and heavy cream, stirring to combine.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until pasta is tender.
Finishing Touches
  1. Stir in shredded cheese until melted and creamy.

Notes
