Ingredients

For the cookie dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temp Soft but not runny
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour Regular all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Classic, not fancy
  • 1 tsp blue gel food coloring Use gel for brighter color

Method

Preparation
  1. Cream your butter and sugars until nicely blended (not too fluffy, not too dense).
  2. Add eggs, one by one, then stir in the vanilla.
  3. In another bowl, toss your flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture.
  5. Add about a quarter teaspoon of the blue gel food coloring and stir in your chocolate chips.
  6. Chill the dough for at least 45 minutes.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grab a cookie scoop and plop the dough onto parchment-lined trays, about two inches apart.
  3. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers look slightly underdone.
  4. Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring.

Notes

For the best results, use gel food coloring and chill the dough for a thicker cookie. You can also add blue sprinkles right after baking for a fun touch.
