Preparation
- Cream your butter and sugars until nicely blended (not too fluffy, not too dense).
- Add eggs, one by one, then stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, toss your flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Slowly stir the dry ingredients into the sugar mixture.
- Add about a quarter teaspoon of the blue gel food coloring and stir in your chocolate chips.
- Chill the dough for at least 45 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grab a cookie scoop and plop the dough onto parchment-lined trays, about two inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers look slightly underdone.
- Let them cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring.
Notes
For the best results, use gel food coloring and chill the dough for a thicker cookie. You can also add blue sprinkles right after baking for a fun touch.
